Walkies<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n We took the dog to Sefton Park yesterday. It was bright and cold, you could almost smell spring. Malone almost behaved off the lead. Apart from a short moment of heart in the mouth hysteria when he legged it after a lurcher and was trying to get into someone’s car to carry on the game. We need to work on recall.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Volunteers<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The bestie and I went to Speke Hall<\/a> yesterday. Not everyone has a Tudor mansion on their doorstep. It was built in Tudor times by a Catholic family so it’s full of priest holes and security features like an eavesdropper (a hole in the eaves so servants could listen to visitors conversations). It was restored in the Victorian era and the current exhibition focuses on this period. The volunteers at the Hall are really friendly and want you to know as much as they do. Having a debate on the female experience in Victorian times in the Great Hall was fantastic.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Beauty Banks<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n I’ve written about food banks before but Sali Hughes and Jo Jones have launched Beauty Banks to provide the homeless and those living in poverty with toiletries so that they can maintain a level of hygiene and basic dignity that we all take for granted. You can read more here<\/a>. I find it difficult to understand how we can live in a country that allows this to happen but rather than pondering Sali and Jo have done something. We won\u00a0\u00a325 on the Lottery last night. I’ve just used it to buy deodorant and toothpaste for someone who can’t afford it. The Amazon wishlist is here<\/a> and this sends directly to them. Give if you can but please also write to your MP and see what they are doing about the levels of poverty in this country.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Humans<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n East Avenue Bakehouse posted this on Instagram. People are lovely.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Love story of the day: Woman comes in, comment how lovely the interesting tattoo on her finger is, she says it’s her wedding ring tattoo; her husband has a matching one.
