I love children’s books. When I give it all up and start my book shop\/tea room with the bestie, you’ll find me hanging out in the children’s section reading to the kids whether they want to hear it or not.<\/p>\n

You get immediate feedback with kids’ books. Boring, badly written, hackneyed, they ain’t sitting still. They are not giving it another 10 pages. They are gone.<\/p>\n

Julia Donaldson is pretty reliable (I can leave the glittery princess ones) and The Detective Dog<\/a>\u00a0is very good. Written in verse so it’s quick for the monkeys to pick up and join in and with enough nods to the adults that you can have a chuckle while reading about Nell, the dog with detecting skills, a passion for books and social justice. Be prepared though once you’ve done a comic “sniff, sniff, sniff<\/em>” once, you are doing it a thousand times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
