Ah, Halloween. A time for unnecessary plastic tat and lots of pumpkins.
I’m not a fan of the decor but I do quite like an old school horror movie. I want creepy, unnerving and terrifying. I don’t watch as many as I used to and I think you lose your tolerance, like an underused muscle. No one else in the house likes them and I can’t watch on my own so it’s rare that I indulge.
As I don’t like missing out my friend Martine told me that the Book at Bedtime of Radio 4 had been The Omen. I love The Omen. So much so that I dragged the beloved to a revival showing. I am lovely.
This version is read by Owen Teale and is suitably spooky and unnerving. There are nine days left to listen to the first episode. If you are brave, listen late at night in a darkened room. If you are more like me do it at midday with some comforting cake to follow.
Don’t have nightmares.
