As a teenager, The Body Shop taught me to reduce, re-use and recycle. A good strong early awakening that has stayed with me. Our family are good at recycling due to Lady Cargers skills but as we see the effects of climate change there is more we can do.
This week I made the decision not to buy liquid soap in plastic bottles but move back to a bar of soap to save the packaging. Although my Molton Brown Rhubarb and Rose will be missed, the bathroom now smells of Imperial Leather and takes me back to childhood.
There are other little things like not using plastic drinking straws. The amount we use is staggering and it’s something you don’t usually think about. They are such a problem that plastic utensils are being banned in Seattle. It’s easy to do the same here but until there is legislation you can refuse the straw in your drink. You can also buy reusable sustainable cutlery and straws.
These changes are tiny but have such an impact. There’s really no fizzier choice.
