The monkeys took the beloved out for a birthday lunch yesterday using the bank of Fizzy.

We went to Elif, a local Turkish restaurant that we love but the monkeys had never been to before. Mini monkey is not adventurous with food but demolished her fish fingers, chips and beans like she’d never been fed. Eldest monkey was chuffed because she was ordered from the main menu and order grilled salmon. That was also polished off with haste. The middlest monkey, well, she ate everything. Bread and hummus is a normal snack for them but Turkish sausage was new, as were the feta filo parcels. She tried the kofte, salmon, meat and cheese stuffed flatbread and wolfed the lot. I asked her what her favourite thing was and she told me that it was the sweet grilled onions and the carrot and cabbage from the salad.

It was great to see them all enjoy the food and being in a place where the staff engaged with them, asking their opinions and making recommendations. That’s why we go to Elif so often. The food is fantastic, it’s close to home but what makes it is the warmth of the staff.
