One of the freaky side effects of having an anxiety disorder is your attention span becomes goldfish like. It’s due to the constant panic and feeling of impending doom. You are constantly checking for whatever is about to kill you next whether that be a herd galloping wildebeest to a ranty email that will make you spiral into despair.
Most of your day will see you flicking between multi screens and browser tabs in work, then compulsively checking your phone while you berate yourself for not just getting on with the pigging job. At the end of the day you are unproductive, exhausted and anxious about how little you have achieved. So the next day you get to start the anxiety salsa again. Yes!
Fun as it sounds the anxiety salsa is awful and I’ve had enough. So it’s a new routine of meditation, single tasking, digital detoxing, reading real books and a proper bedtime routine. I know it sounds dead boring but if it stops the messy brain it has to be done.
