Who would play you in the story of your life? Not the vanity who would play you in the story of your life (Winona Ryder without a doubt) but the is someone had to embody you on film who would it be?

We were dealing with this vital question in work as we were casting our British plucky underdog story about one man’s struggle to become the best paper stapler he could be. George Clooney is lined up to play the stapler. We decided to cast the play based on character, not sex or race – go diversity training – which made for some interesting decisions.

At first, I would be played by Cate Blanchett which was flattering but says more about her acting talent than my ethereal beauty. I lobbied hard for Julie Walters. Funny, can do the Scouse accent, short, touched by nuttiness. There is an age difference but I am not vain.

Then my colleagues hit on the perfect person to play moi. In the movie version of the struggle for stapler glory, Fizzy Pixie will be played by Dylan Moran. I know! It’s perfect. Not only is the resemblance when I wake up uncanny but the level of chaos he can bring to the role is ideal.

Now I just need to write the script…
