Some places have a really calming effect on you. Where I live in Liverpool we have lots of green space and it’s great for dog walking.
Before we had the dog there was one space that I loved more than any other. The International Festival Gardens is a five minute walk from my house. It’s the site of the 1980’s exhibition that I visited as a child. It’s had a rough history since then. It’s been an amusement park, it’s been derelict and it was reopened in 2012 as park space.
Only a tiny fraction of the original park remains but what does is beautiful. It’s parkland/nature reserve and the path to the river. It’s filled with runners, cyclists, families, dog walkers and people with a desire to lounge about.
The rest of the area is subject to redevelopment plans which look great but I hope that the gardens don’t lose the sense of being a haven of calm.
