I’ve always been obsessed with the idea of having a signature style. There is a large section of my book shelves devoted to it. The clarity and simplicity appeals as well as the idea of having an awesomeness uniform.
One part of this is having a signature scent. A single perfume that you wear all the time and that people associate with you. This has always been the goal but I’ve never quite got there. The problem is I have too many ‘me’s.
There is Chanel No 5 me for the “taking care of business” days which covered difficult meetings, funerals or parties where I’m out of my comfort zone.
There is Narciso Rodriquez For Her me for the “romantic” days. I wore it on my first date with the beloved, for our wedding and on every celebration since.
There are loads of versions of me but the bottle I reach for most often is Clarins Eau Dynamisante. I’ve worn it since I was 17 and I’ve probably been through 20 bottles. It’s bright, it’s refreshing, it’s a clean laundry smell and I love it.
Sometimes you need to look at who you are and not who you want to be. Yes, I want to be Marilyn Monroe and yes, I want to be gloriously feminine and romantic but what I am is fizzy. I am loud, enthusiastic and bright and I’m good with that.
So after 23 years of searching, I’m pleased to announce my signature scent is Eau Dynamisante.
