This post should be two posts about a visit to the British Museum to see the Hokusai exhibition and a trip to the V&A for Balenciaga.

And that’s when the Universe kicks you up the bum. We were booked, we were excited, we were on the train. We were stuck at Crewe due to a problem at Milton Keynes. Change trains quickly. We were stuck at Stafford. Properly stuck. It was turn around and go home time.

The Beloved had a wee sense of humour failure at this point but nothing that couldn’t be cured with a quick game of Overly Specific Eye Spy – “you said light, it’s an LED. I win“. The temptation to grump about a lost day off, lost adventures and lost money was strong. But we are Cargames, and we embrace the fizzy. Get back home on a another delayed train, change into new cheering pink jeans (me not him) and then off out for a rather large lunch at Lunya.

It was great to do lazy lunching with the husband and the food is stunning. I’m being prescriptive while it’s summer – get the duck with pear and raspberries, steamed pork belly bun and the woodland mushrooms.

Sometimes plans don’t work out, sometimes you don’t get what you want but, in the immortal words of Mick and Keef, you might get what you need.
