DIY SOS: The Big Build

I’m not a big television watcher. I want to be and I get very giddy about starting a new series but I get distracted and it can feel like a big commitment with work, a husband, friendships, dog walking and an internet shopping habit to maintain.

Finding things that suits the household that ranges from 5 to 67 is also testing. I often give up and stick the tunes on. The 10 year old monkey likes watching grown up telly with the adults after her sisters have gone to bed and I try not watch anything that makes the world a worse place for her. As a kid I had a big imagination and an episode of Fraggle Rock with ghosts traumatised me for months.

What we’ve discovered that we all enjoy is house design programmes. She’s worked her way through Location, Location, Location and thinks the buyers need to be more realistic, has marvelled at Grand Designs and loves George Clarke. However, the best thing ever is DIY SOS: The Big Build. Watching people come together to help these families live better lives is inspiring. What makes it better is everyone watching chipping in with their thoughts on how to help the family. Living with caring empathetic people is good for the soul. And I need to as I usual cry myself daft watching and need hugs, tissues and rehydration by the end of it.
