I may be getting over excited because I love the start of a new year, it all feels so fresh and optimistic that I get swept up in it all. I thought I’d share what’s made me bounce with fizziness this week.
Desert Island Discs with Christine McVie. I love DID anyway but this interview with Christine McVie was great. Honest, not a hint of self pity or false modesty and a great insight to the world of Fleetwood Mac and creating those legendary songs.
How To Be Champion by Sarah Millican. This was a Christmas present and a complete joy. I read a lot of comedy autobiographies and this is a good one. You’d expect funny but it’s a bit of steel for your soul. It’s about being yourself, working hard and being nice. It’s also filthy.
Extraordinary Routines. This website sets out the daily routines of creative people. I do love a good “how I deal with my life” article and this is a treasure trove of them. I’m fascinated by the role of routine and habit in a creative light and this is an insight into that.
A House Through Time. Not just because it’s set in my home city but this programme by David Olusoga following the lives of all the residents of a single property is great. Good social history can ignite curiosity and make you see the every day world around you differently. This did that.
