You’ve had Christmas dinner. It’s a long time until Doctor Who and if someone suggests charades you may kick them in the shin.

What you need is teamwork. If it gets too competitive lifelong grudges will bubble to the surface. If we can avoid that we will try. Teamwork. Everyone working on a task. Oh yes, team building for families. Trust me.

You need:

7 plastic cups

An elastic band that will fit around the cups

5 to 8 pieces of string (one for each team member) all the same length.

Stack the cups in a pyramid. Tie the pieces of string around the elastic band. The aim is to pick up each cup and re-stack them the opposite way up only using the elastic band. All players must keep both hands on their string at all times. Nothing can touch the cups but the elastic band or the string. By each player pulling on the string, the band will stretch and can be manoeuvred over the cups. All the players will need to cooperate. As you can’t take your hands on the bands, you will need to climb over people, under, round and keep your sense of humour.
