My darling friend G-Boo is the absolute mistress of extracting the joy out of life. I may have mentioned this earlier today. She kindly agreed to write here the definitive guide to getting your party on. Enjoy.
Top tips for the Christmas Party season!
I have been honoured with the request to write a guest slot here on “The Fizzy” about one of my favourite times of year, Christmas Party season. It is a time of gaudiness and glitz with a smattering of good will. Tis also the season of my birth and so I get to make the most of all the fabulous outfit options that appear, huzzah!
I feel that there are three key elements that assist you to be your best self for the evening ahead;
1. Planning is the key to a successful and happy party attendance. They’re usually after a day at work and so if you are not one of those folk who prefer to take a whole day off in preparation, planning is key! Make sure any waxing, shaving or any other extraneous tasks to being party-ready have been undertaken in the preceding days so that on the day you can concentrate solely on the task at hand. Such preparation also means that if you’re running late or want to spend an extra 10 mins lounging in the bath. You can :-).
Have your outfit planned and set out, preferably having tried all potential looks prior to the day. I like to have options so I will have chosen a couple of potential outfits and accompanying make up looks in the preceding days. I am also an agent of chaos and sometimes find that when it comes down to the wire I won’t want to go with any of my initial choices. If you are like me in that respect, make sure that any wildcard outfit choice is comfortable. Leading me nicely on to the next key tip…
2. Make sure you are comfortable in your outfit choice! Be it the main clothing element, shoes, makeup or accessories. 60% of the success of your evening will hinge on your comfort. If you feel comfortable, you are more likely to carry off the look and feel confident as you mingle. Plus as I recall quite keenly from last year, there is nothing worse than spending the evening tugging down a skirt that seemed alright before you left for risk of exposing one’s knickers and lady area to the world.
3. Playlist! Whilst getting ready I feel it is essential to have a good playlist. Music is the key to a lot of the comfort in life and should help put that ready to party gleam in your eye and spring in your step. All that is required is a series of tunes that make you feel empowered and ready to take on the world. Make the last song a good ‘un. For me, it’s always “Is it ‘cos I’m cool” by Mousse T.
4. Finally for me, a little luxury tipple of your choice. Not a lot, as arriving drunk is not the aim of the game. Just a little to put that party ready flush in your cheeks and help along the air of excitement generated by dressing up and powering up so to speak with some fabulous tunes. If booze isn’t your thing I find that sugar works just as well. There’s nothing like a well-crafted mocktail at such times.
Farewell, my beauties. Go forth and enjoy this wondrous time. Winter is here… and we are fabulous!
Happy Fizzmas!
