I love shoes. I am a fussy but lazy dresser. For years my “don’t think, just get up” outfit was a plain navy dress, with black tights and very colourful heels.
Then I fell off the step into a Chinese restaurant (I was not drunk, I was momentarily distracted by Oompa Loompas) and my heel wearing days were over. I will admit there was a period of mourning. And there may be some shoes hidden in my husband’s wardrobe that I can’t let go of. Hi, sexy peep toe pirate boots!
Now, there is true joy in foot wear again. I can admire a truly gorgeous pair of heels and then give silent thanks that I am bouncing about in biker boots, trainers or a brogue. The trick for me is to never try to blend in. Trainers with neon spots? Yes! Gold brogues? Yes! Children’s rainbow glitter Mary Janes? Have my credit card and send me your entire stock!
The rest of the outfit remains the same. Navy dress, black tights and the fizziest shoes you’ve ever seen.
