I love the theatre. From a back stage trip to the Playhouse in the Brownies to playing the milkman in a school production of Blood Brothers I fell for it at a young age. My dreams of being an actress were thwarted due to a fear of heights. Seriously, have you seen back stage? Perilous.
Instead I became a fan. I can sit through classic Greek tragedy, Reformation comedy, the Bard, experimental theatre, musical theatre. The lot. My only issue is with interpretative dance but that’s not a fizzy thing.
One of the best productions I’ve seen recently was Around the World in 80 Days at the Royal Exchange in Manchester. I went with the bestie and then went back with the beloved. Inventive, funny and completely absorbing.
The production is touring with the original cast and is in Liverpool for three performances on 27 and 28 October 2017. You can get tickets here. The fizzy level is dangerously high. I should warn you that it may sell out as I am a one woman marketing service for this play. I have tickets to two performances because I booked to take the beloved and then realised that it was only fair to take my Mum as we’d be re-enacting it in front of her for three years and it’s about time she understood what we were on about.
Go! Laugh yourself silly and feel the fizzy.
